Recently, Nothing announced Rohit Pakalpati as the new CBO (Community Board Supervisor) for the year 2024. The announcement follows a two-week election for the CBO role in the Nothing community, which ends on January 3, 2024. Last year CBO Lewis and Roddy Merritt were the other two candidates who ran in the election.

On January 3, Nothing’s Community Manager – Rob Godwin – tweeted to congratulate Rohit Pakalpati on his selection as Nothing’s CBO 24 and warmly welcomed him to the role. Applications for Community Board Supervisor opened on November 7, 2023 and three of them were shortlisted for the final voting starting on December 24.

Rohit Pakalpati is an Indian living in UK who is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Marketing Management (Digital). He has also been an active member of the Nothing community since October, 2021. Rohit is one of three candidates shortlisted from among many who applied for the role of CBO and he shares his thoughts about the role, his interests and how he plans to become a CBO. How will you handle the role?

Rohit said this after being selected as Community Board Observer for Nothing.

Dear community,

It feels surreal and extremely gratifying to represent our community at the board level as your Community Board Supervisor (CBO). Since the beginning of Nothing, I have been a part of this incredible journey, and it’s an honor to now play a role that epitomizes the connection and commitment we share. My gratitude extends to all the connections I’ve made, simply because Nothing values its community. I clearly remember the first in-person community event I attended; This was a transformative experience for me. The down-to-earth and friendly nature of everyone on the team reinforced how much they really care about the community.

As I stepped into the CBO role, I remembered that this position is not about ‘I’, but about ‘we’. The collective voice of our community is my guiding force, and I am fully committed to being as courageous and conscious as possible in this role. I understand the importance of constructive criticism and believe it is more important than positive news. However, I also recognize the importance of boosting team morale with positive feedback and good spirits from our community. They deserve not only to hear our concerns and criticisms but also our encouragement and support.

I promise to do my best in this position and will never take it lightly. I will make sure that every piece of feedback, whether praise or criticism, is thoughtfully considered and packaged before presenting it in meetings. My commitment to Nothing and each of you is unwavering, and I will strive to represent every voice in our community with integrity and dedication. This role is a testament to our collective power and influence, and I look forward to bringing our voices and ideas to the forefront of decision-making processes.

Thank you once again for your trust and support. Here’s to a new chapter where we will continue to grow, innovate and shape the future together.
