As we already know, Google’s Pixel 8 and Samsung’s latest flagship i.e. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with a variety of AI features. However, we haven’t seen any AI features in iPhones. But some rumors suggested that Apple will introduce Generative AI with its upcoming iOS 18 update which will be announced at WWDC 2024 in June this year.

A report from Bloomberg suggests that Apple is in talks to implement Gemini AI (which is from Google) in its iPhones. Some rumors also suggested that Apple is in discussions with OpenAI (developer of ChatGPT) in this regard. This deal with Google is based on agreements related to making Google the default search engine on Apple iPhones.

According to the report, Apple and Google have not finalized the terms of the agreement, how it will be used and branding. Therefore, there is little chance that Apple may go with other partners like ChatGPT (OpenAI), or even other generative AI models. Both Apple and Google are active in the agreement, so Apple licenses Gemini, allowing them to implement the AI features that are rumored to come with iOS 18. The Bloomberg report also suggested that AI features are also being worked on with Siri.

Some reports also suggest that Apple is testing its larger language model codenamed Ajax (internally). A limited number of employees are also testing a basic chatbot nicknamed Apple GPT. Although these efforts are still considered low if we compare with competitors, partnership could be a good decision.
